Fownhope children help Operation Christmas Child

Children at St Mary’s C of E Primary School, Fownhope have been decorating and filling shoe boxes with small gifts as part of Operation Christmas Child. This is a national wide campaign by the Samaritan’s Purse UK.

The children have been filling their boxes with a few toys and essential items, such as paper and pencils, hats and gloves, toothpaste and toothbrushes.

The purpose of this is to remind the children that while they may get lots of presents at Christmas, there are some children who get nothing.

The children can also include a picture of themselves and a message for the child receiving the present.

Samaritan’s Purse UK is an international relief and development organisation that works through local churches to proclaim and demonstrate the love of God amongst communities in need (in countries across Sub-Saharan Africa, Eastern Europe and Central Asia) across the world.

St Mary’s School took part in the nationwide project as a part of their link to St Mary’s Church in Fownhope.
