The Disciples club is formed of seven pupils, Sophie, Joseph A and Noah (Year 5), Amelie and Millie (Year 4), Lilly and Meg (Year 3). They are passionate about making the world a better place by supporting different charities. They meet with a teacher, Miss Scrivens, every few weeks and lead fundraising in school. This term they supported the Hereford Food Bank and Hereford and Worcester Animal Rescue. The photos below show them with donations/ dropping them off at the charities.
“We chose these amazing charities because we think it is really sad that there are hungry people in Hereford. We wanted to support the animal rescue charity because we are all animal lovers.” said Amelie.
Noah added “Pupils sent donations to school. Miss Scrivens gathered the items at the end of last half term and we took them to the food bank and HWAR.”
“For the Hereford Food Bank we collected things like tins, pasta and toiletries.” said Joseph.
“For the Hereford and Worcester Animal Rescue we collected used tennis balls, old towels for mucky paws and small blankets to put in dog beds.” said Sophie.
Miss Scrivens said “As a Church school, it is really important to us to show generosity of spirit and serve others within our community and the wider world. Our ‘Disciples’ focus on raising money and awareness for local and Christian charities. The children on this new committee make decisions about which charities to support and how, help to lead fundraising events and generally support the school in their charitable giving.”
